AZ4NORML: October 07 Newsletter and Information

Good Evening AZ4NORML supporters, friends, and activists!

AZ4NORML is a nonprofit 501c3 that works to educate people about the effectiveness of medical marijuana, the value of industrial hemp, and the benefits and safety of marijuana as a recreational substance.

AZ4NORML does focus on medical marijuana, we feel that medical patients should be the first to be able to determine if marijuana can provide them relief.  In fact, marijuana as medicine can be smoked, vaporized, and eaten.  Marijuana lotions can be prepared  and used to fight MRSA and to heal infections and sores that won’t heal.  We do also realize that marijuana can inspire creativity, can relax the mind and body, it can enhance sexual experiences, and can provide a  hangover free, nontoxic recreational enjoyment.

I hope you will join AZ4NORML in their fight to provide this information to the community. We are in need of funds and donations of goods and services.  Please reply to this email to help.  Donations can be tax deductable and a receipt will be provided.

We recently hosted our large tent at KFMA Fall Ball on Saturday, October 03rd and KLPX 30th anniversary fest on Sunday, October 04th.  We collected signatures for the medical marijuana initiative and we gained over 500 new subscribers to our email newsletter.  The chapter owes a huge thank you to our volunteer coordinator Chad T,  and volunteers  Tom, Mary, Roz, David, Paul, Chris, Garrett, Ed, Leah, Billy, Brent, Tyler, Mike, Matt, Lauren, Chad, and Greg who stepped it up to staff this very busy outreach.  The wind was crazy on Sunday but with duct tape and a little luck, we pulled it off.  We added $150 to the treasury and really got our message out there.  Thanks to KFMA, KLPX, The Event Group, The Pima County Fairgrounds, and Robert Gallo for helping us secure our spot at the concert.

We hope you can join us at Tucson Pride this year.  It is Saturday.  October 10th at Reid Park.  Admission is $15 and I have a limited number of tickets available for our volunteers.  If you have already volunteered, we will be in touch tomorrow.  Some people have asked me why we are involved with a gay and lesbian event and I feel that we have similar struggles against people who would like to take away our freedoms and control our lives.  Please come show your support at Tucson Pride and also join us at the Pride parade with Margaret Cho on Friday, October 09th at 6PM, if you are interested in joining the group that evening, RSVP this email letting us know.

Our next meeting is Saturday, October 17th.   Join us at the Ward 6 Council Offices for our October meeting!  We will be discussing upcoming events, our committees, and the upcoming decriminalization bills (read about one of them here) that may be on the 2010 ballot with the medical marijuana initiative.  Please get registered to vote today at www.servicearizona.com to be able to vote in the 2010 election.  The offices are located at 3202 E. 1st Street in Tucson.  Please bring aCommunity Food Bank donation with you to them meeting.

We are still waiting to see if we are hosting our booth at the 2009 Blues Festival on Sunday, October 18th.  If any of our members have a contact there, please check on our application.  If you would like to volunteer at this event please RSVP this email.

AZ4NORML will be at the Kottonmouth Kings on Sunday, October 18th at the Rialto Theatre as well.  We have our two volunteers selected (Mike and Garrett), thank you to those who are members of our music venue volunteer rotation.  If you would like to be considered for a concert, our volunteers get in free, please reply to this email to start the process..

Musicians for Marijuana had its first meeting on Monday.  It was a huge success and a lot of fun.  If you are a musician, join our band.  Please reply to this email to get on the band email list and to RSVP for the next meeting.
